About seamless gutter installation & replacement

We roll the gutter on site from a single coil, which means one continuous length per run instead of a joint every ten feet. Joints are the first thing to fail on a sectional system, and they fail from the inside where nobody sees them until the fascia is already soft.

Sizing is done off the roof area that actually drains into each run, not off a rule of thumb. A 5 inch K-style handles most Treasure Valley homes. Steeper pitches and larger roof planes get 6 inch with oversized downspouts, because a gutter that cannot keep up in a July thunderstorm will sheet water over the front lip exactly where you least want it.

Colour is matched to the existing trim from a standard range at no extra cost. Fascia is inspected before anything is hung, and if it needs repair we quote that separately rather than folding it into the total. Hanging new gutter on soft fascia just moves the problem one season down the road.

Most of what we do is replacement rather than first fit. Somebody in Boise or Meridian has gutter that has been patched twice and is failing again, and they want to know whether to repair it once more or replace the lot. We will tell you which, and the price section below sets out exactly what moves the number so a replacement quote is not a mystery.

How we do it

  1. Measure the roof, not the wall

    We work out the square footage draining into each run, the pitch, and where the water is going to concentrate. That decides 5 inch or 6 inch and how many downspouts you need. Most undersized systems we replace were sized off the length of the wall.

  2. Check the fascia

    A gutter is only as sound as the board it hangs on. We check for soft spots and previous water damage before quoting, because that changes the job and you should hear about it before you commit.

  3. Roll the gutter on site

    The machine forms your gutter from a coil in the length you need. No joints, no seams, nothing to work loose in a freeze thaw cycle.

  4. Hang, mitre and seal

    Hidden hangers at spacing suited to your snow load. Corners mitred and sealed on site so they match the run rather than sitting proud of it.

  5. Flow test

    Water down every run before we pack up. A gutter can look perfect from the ground and still hold water on a flat spot.

What drives the price

We quote on site rather than over the phone, because these vary enough between houses that a phone number would be a guess. Here is exactly what we are weighing up.

Linear footage
The single biggest factor. A simple ranch with four runs costs a fraction of a two storey with dormers and multiple valleys.
Gutter size and gauge
6 inch costs more than 5 inch per foot and needs larger downspouts, but on a big or steep roof it is the difference between a system that works and one that overflows twice a year.
Fascia condition
If the board behind the gutter is soft it has to be repaired first. We quote this separately so you can see exactly what is gutter and what is carpentry.
Height and access
Two and three storey elevations, steep pitches and tight side yards all take longer and need more setup.
Number of corners and downspouts
Every mitre and every outlet is hand cut and sealed. A cut up roofline costs more per foot than a long straight one.

Questions about installation

Is seamless gutter actually better, or is it just a sales line?

It is a real difference and it comes down to joints. A sectional system has a seam every eight to ten feet, and every one of those is sealed with a bead of caulk that hardens and cracks through Idaho freeze thaw cycles. When it fails it leaks from the inside, straight down the back of the gutter onto the fascia, where you will not see it until the board is already soft. Seamless has no joints along the run at all. The only sealed points are the corners and the outlets.

How long does a seamless gutter installation take?

Most single family homes are a one day job. The gutter is formed on site as we go, so there is no waiting on an order. A large or complex roofline, or a job that needs fascia repair first, can run into a second day. We will tell you which it is when we quote.

Do I need 5 inch or 6 inch gutter?

It depends on the roof area draining into each run and the pitch. Most Treasure Valley homes are fine on 5 inch K-style. Steeper roofs shed water faster and larger roof planes collect more of it, and both push you toward 6 inch with 3x4 downspouts. We work it out from your actual roof rather than guessing.

What colours can I get?

There is a standard colour range matched to common trim and fascia colours, and colour matching is included rather than an upgrade. Bring us a sample or we will match off the existing trim on site.
